Phoenix Recycling Group are trialling new Heavy Vehicle E-Truck technology as successful recipients of the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA)’s Low Emissions Transportation Fund.
Phoenix and EECA together are co-funding and testing HGV E-Truck technology so we can contribute to Aotearoa NZ’s decarbonisation goals and decision making for long haul and heavy haul road transportation within Aotearoa New Zealand.

Phoenix are independently Toitu Envirocare Net Carbon Zero certified - offsetting every truck kilometre, every equipment movement between and within our yards and demolition sites, and every container movement to the destination port of our global recycling partners as they electrify.

Phoenix have successfully horizontally and vertically integrated a nationwide metal recycling service to deliver consolidated recycling solutions, with corresponding sustainability data and emissions reporting for their customers climate related disclosures. Phoenix have positioned themselves to lead Aotearoa NZ’s circular economy and contribute to Aotearoa NZ’s UN SDG commitments for 2030 and beyond.

Another step for us towards creating the 'milk run' of battery recycling. We can announce the acquisition of eCycle Solutions batteries business. Phoenix are professionalising the service further by adding fire proof receptacles, heat sensors and independent 24/7 monitoring where applicable. Our battery milk run is serviced by our own Dangerous Goods transportation certified Phoenix team, enabling end-to-end battery recycling; from Aotearoa to our global recycling partners.

Official launch of the Cans for Kai collaboration with LegaSea. This initiative financially assists LegaSea’s Kai Ika Project in partnership with Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae, Westhaven Marina, Orakei Marina and The Outboard Boating Club (OBC).
Current can count: 311 kg’s recycled so far
in support of this initiative.

Phoenix launches New Zealand’s first nationwide end-to-end battery recycling solution. ‘No battery left behind’. Over 20 subtypes of batteries will be recycled, servicing domestic, commercial, industrial uses. Hundreds of collection points to be installed in towns and cities to make it easy for Kiwis to recycle batteries.

Replaced 10 utes with 100% electric EV vehicles. These 10 utes for FY23 used 22,077 litres of diesel travelling 234,447km – equivalent to 59 tCO2e emissions reduction by switching to electric.
